Summer greetings to all,
Kinky are enjoying success on their 'House of Blues' US tour, previewing their exciting new single, a Kinky-fied cover of the Tito Puente penned, Santana number 'Oye Como Va'. The song has caused a storm at recent live gigs and has gained frenzied notoriety in Ibiza, where new Mutiny remix is ripping up dancefloors in the clubs and the LazyBoy remix is providing the perfect music to watch that famous sunset.

Directed by Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington, 'Man on Fire' has already been a box office smash in the States and is set for an Autumn release in the UK.

What an amazing night!! Kinky pulled off another astounding performance at the Royal Festival Hall, for the penultimate show of the La Linea festival. Their infectious rhythms created an energy and upbeat atmosphere that filled the London venue putting the most boring Brit on his feet, with most of the crowd out of their seats and dancing at the front of the stage. Tracks played from the 'Atlas' album included 'Salta-lenin-el-atlas', 'Do you like it?', 'The Headphonist', 'Snapshot', and a special version of 'Presidente' during the encore. 'Mas', 'Sol', 'Sambita' and 'Cornman' were just some of the crowd-pleasing classics that were also played in this unforgettable 90 minute show. Together, the quintet gave an incredible stage presence, as well as each multitalented member displaying their individual skills. Memorable moments came from Gil, on vocals/guitar/turntables and horn!, Ulises, with his unforgettable accordion sounds and Omar drumming at the speed of light..
..Well done boys, you did us proud!!! Check out the photos here

KINKY to join Major Pop Stars From Over 25 Countries to Perform at "World Peace Concert in Bali" on April 22, 2003
Unprecedented Event To Serve As Non-Violent Response To Worldwide Terrorism
A multi-national volunteer effort to produce a concert for world peace has taken form on the popular tourist destination island of Bali, which is attracting the attention of major artists from around the world. The primarily Hindu island of Bali, with its 3000-year-old indigenous culture, viewed as a central point free of political ramifications, is hosting the pro-peace event. Officially sectioned by President Sukarnoputri Megawati of Indonesia, The World Peace Concert in Bali is scheduled to take place on Earth Day, April 22, 2003 at Garuda Wisnu Kencana in Bali and will be broadcasted live throughout the world. Producers of the three-hour broadcast will deliver the satellite feed out free to local TV networks in over 100 countries.
"The message of 'peace and human co-existence' needs to be shared with everyone regardless of economic standing," said show producer Matt Taylor. "This event will offer the world a window to the most diverse collection of important artists to ever share a stage. Major pop stars from China and Taiwan, India and Pakistan, Israel and the Arab world will come together with acts from several other countries with a unified message of world peace."
An international collaboration of artists from various countries - some with a history of suffering from war and violence - fill the list of artists planning to attend the event. Artists who have pledged their support and participation to the event include: Jay Chou (Taiwan); Regine Valasquez (Philippines); Sheryl Crow (U.S.); Zap Mama (France); Baba-G (India); Zucchero (Italy); Stewart Copeland of The Police (U.K.); Alabina (Israel/Europe); Hakim (Egypt); INXS (Australia); KINKY (Latin America); Mario Frangoulis (Greece) and Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues (U.S.) among many others to be announced at a later date. The Garuda Wisnu Kencana is located atop a mountain, where the remains of a massive limestone quarry cutaway provide the walls, which constitute the perimeter of this open-air venue. The approximate capacity for this incredible event is 15,000 people.

Congratulations to KINKY for an awe-inspiring live show at New York City's B.B.Kings yesterday. We especially loved the new songs you played, plus a song from your early days: the beautiful San Antonio - Gil it was obvious you love that song when you sang it, and we do too!

Kinky played an electric show last night at Wembley Arena infront of 12,000 music lovers. They jumped and danced around the huge stage like hyperactive jumping beans!!! Pliego the bass player especially was on fine form, gyrating his hips and strutting around the stage like a mad rooster on heat!!! Their songs sounded phat and got the huge crowd screaming for more - so congratulations to the guys from Kinky - you did us proud!!
The World Peace Concert in Bali has now been postponed to June due to a scare of a mystery illness outbreak in the territory, dubbed "Asian flu" or SARS.
This follows continued concern over large gatherings, creating apprehension among music fans and concern for their safety.
More news soon, so please watch this space.
Last week was explosive for the band that is KINKY who spent an exhausting if not utterly rewarding few days in the city of Los Angeles. With live shows at the BMI hosted party at the Knitting Factory alongside fellow mexican artists Circo and Bayu, a Rock the Vote gig at the Key Club, and back to headlining at the Knitting Factory in the space of 4 days, with the Latin Grammys award ceremony thrown in the middle, there wasn't much time to rest one's weary head. in LA, the Kinky boys didn't even think about sleeping - after their shows they continued partying till 9 in the morning!!! I should know - i was there, and am still recovering....... At the BMI gig, Kinky kicked some serious ass, catapalting Circo and Bayu off the planet with their outstanding musical virtuoso, and undiminishing charisma. Despite the fact that the boys had just got off the Unlimited Sunshine Tour that took them right across the United States with the Flaming Lips and Cake, followed by an MTV appearance in Bogota, Colombia, and a week in London UK, these boys were not gonna let anything dampen their energy onstage. They are literally electric, and give a new meaning to a 'live' performance. There must have been about 4 or 5 girls who had scrambled up on the stage and danced their heads off with Gil! For me, the best part of their live shows was when they played their new song 'Atlas' at the end of the Knitting Factory gig on Thursday. This new 'sound' they created completely blew me away. It sounded like nothing else on earth!
Predictably, the award for 'Best Alternative Rock Album' went to La Ley and their 'MTV Unplugged' album, which wasn't really an album, but a 'Best of'... Whatever... we look forward to seeing Kinky at the 'anglo' Grammys next year!!
Buen día a todos!

Sorry to sound a bit biased, but whether I work for this label or not, KINKY are in my opinion the best band to emerge out of Latin America in the last year. Watching them perform last week at Cargo, London & at the Toucan Club in Cardiff, they got everybody in the crowd going wild - my body is still aching from the experience of jumping up and down like a mad woman!!! Their live shows just get better and better!! Thanks to KINKY for giving us Brits such a good time!
